The Korean coach said the players showed commendable fighting spirit, especially their ability to overcome the pressure after conceding a goal at the end of the first half. He shared that the team was affected psychologically at times, but promptly adjusted after the break.
“After the first half, I saw the loss of concentration due to the loss, so I reminded the whole team to focus again. In the second half, the players played according to plan,” said coach Kim Sang Sik, while admitting that the team still lacked a bit of luck in finishing, causing the number of goals not to reflect the true situation of the game.
According to Mr. Kim Sang Sik, the situation of conceding the goal stemmed from a moment of lack of concentration. However, he said the most important thing was that U22 Vietnam retained the victory.
“Today’s result is a worthy reward for the team’s efforts. I’m sorry about the goal we conceded in the first half, but the important thing is that we won. The team will quickly recover and prepare well for the match against Malaysia,” the coach emphasized.
Evaluating the opponent Laos, coach Kim Sang Sik said the opposing team is making clear progress through each tournament. He said that the fact that the two teams have met many times also makes the game more tight.
“As I said before the match, Laos is getting stronger and stronger and has many individuals playing very well. The two teams understand each other quite well, so today we had a bit of difficulty,” he said.
Coach Kim Sang Sik also praised striker Nguyen Dinh Bac - the player who scored twice to bring victory and was voted the best player of the match. The coach affirmed that Dinh Bac had an outstanding performance, but the attack still needs to be improved before the match against U22 Malaysia.
The victory over U22 Laos helped U22 Vietnam create favorable momentum in their journey to conquer SEA Games 33. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will meet U22 Malaysia on December 11, with the goal of continuing to win all 3 points to consolidate their position in the competition for a ticket to the semi-finals.
