The People's Committee of Da Lat City (Lam Dong Province) requested the authorities to terminate and liquidate Pedalo service contracts with businesses providing this service at Xuan Huong Lake and Da Thien 3 Lake.

On November 3, according to information obtained by reporters, the People's Committee of Da Lat City requested the Center for Investment Management and Exploitation of Da Lat Irrigation Works to terminate and liquidate the contract for pedal boat service business with the Lam Dong Tourism Joint Stock Company Branch on the water surface of Xuan Huong Lake due to not meeting the conditions to continue operating.

According to the People's Committee of Da Lat City, the duck pedal boat service business at Xuan Huong Lake has been established for a long time, this activity has many factors of time and history. This is also an iconic part of Xuan Huong Lake when tourists come to Da Lat City, at the same time providing entertainment services for local people as well as tourists coming to Da Lat.

Currently, at Xuan Huong Lake, there are 3 organizations and individuals providing pedal boat services within the 38-hectare water surface area of ​​the lake: Lam Dong Tourism Joint Stock Company Branch (at Thuy Ta restaurant area); Da Lat Urban Services Joint Stock Company and Nguyen Tran Anh Duy business household with a total of 95 Pedalo boats and 3 rescue canoes.

However, the business of this type of service must comply with the provisions of the 2017 Law on Irrigation. According to research, in June 2019, Lam Dong Tourism Joint Stock Company Branch submitted an application for a license to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province but has not yet been granted an operating license.

According to Dan Viet reporters, the duck bicycle docks of the units and individuals providing this service on Xuan Huong Lake have announced a temporary suspension of operations while waiting for a license from the authorities. Therefore, the image of duck bicycles used by tourists to tour the surface of Xuan Huong Lake for the past 30 years is no longer there. Many people expressed regret and miss it when traveling to Da Lat City.

Mr. Viet Niem (tourist from Da Nang ) said: "I often see tourists coming to Da Lat pedaling duck boats to enjoy the fresh air in the heart of the mountain town. This service has not had any problems affecting the safety of tourists. Moreover, this is a part, a familiar image in Da Lat for the past few decades. Therefore, if possible, this service should be licensed to operate again."

Not only Xuan Huong Lake, at Da Thien 3 Lake (Ward 8, Da Lat City), the City People's Committee also assigned the Da Lat Center for Investment Management and Exploitation of Irrigation Works to terminate and liquidate the contract for the pedal boat service of Thanh Thanh Cong Lam Dong Tourism Company Limited.
