The small fire was "quickly extinguished" after breaking out on June 25, according to a spokesperson for cruise line Royal Caribbean. The cruise line said no one was injured and the overall impact on board was "minimal".
The Icon of the Seas, nearly 366 meters long and weighing 250,800 tons, was docked in Costa Maya, Mexico, when the incident occurred. The ship experienced a brief power outage, but its backup power supply was activated immediately.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson confirmed that the crew members had the fire under control because they were all trained to handle such situations.
According to the cruise line, passengers were warned about what was happening during the incident. Social media users on the Icon of the Seas Facebook group spoke of minor disruptions to their day, but operations quickly returned to normal.
The $2 billion "icon of the sea" ship garnered attention when it launched earlier this year, boasting seven swimming pools – including a record-breaking nearly 1,580-square-meter water park. The ship's current voyage was unaffected by the fire, and it is now en route to Mexico's Cozumel Island.
Earlier in March, a fire broke out on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship. Footage of the stern of the ship engulfed in flames was filmed by a passenger.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said that small fires are "uncommon but not rare" on cruise ships, but are usually dealt with quickly and cause little disruption to passengers.
