(BD) - On the afternoon of April 26, in Quy Nhon City, the Standing Committee of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee held a conference to implement the Central Government's policy on merging provincial-level administrative units.
The Conference was chaired by comrades: Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Dinh province; Ho Van Nien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Gia Lai province.

Also attending the meeting, on behalf of Binh Dinh province, there were comrades: Le Kim Toan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee.

At the Conference, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan gave preliminary information about the Project on administrative unit arrangement of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces. Accordingly, Gia Lai province (new) after merging and consolidating Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces will have an area of 21,576.5 km², a population of nearly 3.6 million people, and is expected to have 135 commune-level administrative units (including 110 communes and 25 wards). The political and administrative center of Gia Lai province (new) is expected to be located in Quy Nhon city (currently Binh Dinh province).

At the Conference, the Standing Committee of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee and the Standing Committee of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee discussed and gave opinions on the Project on rearranging administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, principles for arranging organizational apparatus and assigning cadres, establishing the Steering Committee for merging Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, and establishing sub-committees to serve the new Gia Lai Provincial Party Congress.

Speaking at the Conference, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung and Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Ho Van Nien added: This is the second working session between the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces. Previously, there was a working session between the two Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees in Gia Lai. The Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two localities discussed and reached consensus and high agreement with the contents presented at this conference.

Speaking at the meeting, Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung said that the merger of the two provinces is a major policy of the Central Government, aiming to create a new development space, create better momentum, and create new growth poles in socio-economic development. The arrangement of the administrative apparatus and assignment of staff to ensure that the new apparatus operates immediately after the merger to implement the Central Government's policy of operating effectively, efficiently, and effectively, ensuring that after the arrangement, solidarity and consensus are created, creating new strength and new development momentum.

Based on the results of the Conference, the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces will direct the functional agencies of the two localities to closely coordinate to complete the Project on rearranging administrative units of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces to submit to the Central Government before May 1, 2025. At the same time, reach consensus on the principles of rearranging the organizational apparatus and assigning cadres to report to the Central Government. Thereby, ensuring that the new apparatus after the merger and consolidation of the two provinces will promote effectiveness and efficiency in operation, together with solidarity and unity, creating new momentum, new spirit, new strength to bring Gia Lai (new) province to develop rapidly, becoming a new growth pole of the country.
