Writer Bich Ngan shared her thoughts at a press conference held by the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association on February 20th to announce the activities of Vietnam Poetry Day, which took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations (81 Tran Quoc Thao Street, District 3).
Poetry Day will take place on February 23 and 24.
The youth poetry stage and children's poetry stage will be the main focus.
Besides announcing the main activities of Vietnam Poetry Day in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Bich Ngan - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, hopes that young writers and poets, especially those writing for children, will receive more attention from the public.
"You all did a great job and were very enthusiastic in organizing the events promoting the literary activities of the Writers' Association."
"We are deeply moved and often say to each other: 'The Writers' Association is poor and lacks resources, but every time we organize activities, you all still work together wholeheartedly, contributing quality articles,'" Ms. Ngan expressed.
The Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association announced that, as in previous years, the young poets' stage will be the main focus of Vietnam Poetry Day.
"When they actively write prose and poetry, they prove that they are not just chasing after a living or economic gain, but that their literary activities have nurtured their souls and helped them grow alongside the city," shared a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association.
The Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association will connect with young, talented poets who are not yet members by creating a youth poetry playground.
The poetry collection A Day from Inside by young poet Minh Anh won the A prize of the Vietnam Literature and Arts Award.
The Young Poets' Stage introduces new faces in the literary world such as Minh Anh, Tran Duc Tin, Tran Van Thien, Huynh Trong Khang, Huynh Huu Phuoc…
Among them, there are people who are still students but have won many literary awards.
For example, Minh Anh, a girl who is only 16 years old, has just won the A prize of the Vietnam Literature and Arts Award with the poetry collection A Day from Inside .
On the morning of February 24th, a book signing and Q&A session with young poets and writers will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations (81 Tran Quoc Thao Street, District 3).
This year, a children's poetry forum is being held for the first time to encourage authors to create works for children and to explore issues related to children's literature.
The Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association also believes that while attention should be paid to the younger generation of writers, the future of children should also be considered.

Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association publishes book of poetry set to music
"This city, I came to, I love" is the theme of the 2024 Poetry Day of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association. This is a line of poetry written by Hai Nhu about this city.
The activities of Poetry Day mainly commemorate the achievements of poets whose works are valuable and resonate with people, such as Hai Nhu, Do Nam Cao, Doan Vi Thuong, etc.
Writer Bich Ngan said that the organizing committee selected six excellent poems and songs by poets and authors with themes related to Ho Chi Minh City for artistic performances, such as: "The Mother of Ban Co" ( Poem by Nguyen Kim Ngan), "Walking in the Scent of Melaleuca" (Poem by Hoai Vu)...
Starting with Poetry Day 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association will implement the project commemorating 50 years of literature and art, which has been approved by the city.
It was an organization that printed and widely distributed a book of beautiful poems (and songs) that had been set to music.
The book will include original versions of popular and representative poems set to music.
The Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association added that the Vietnamese Poetry Day event, held during the Lantern Festival, received a significant additional budget compared to last year. The total budget for the event is approximately 400 million VND.
This will be an opportunity to develop Vietnam Poetry Day into a major cultural event of Ho Chi Minh City.
