Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen emphasized: The workshop is a very meaningful and necessary activity, opening up important opportunities for the cooperative system of the provinces to access new knowledge, connect with experts, expand international market cooperation and promote the process of transforming the growth model towards modernity and sustainability.

In Ca Mau province, cooperatives, especially in the agricultural and aquatic product sectors, are making positive contributions to the value chain of the province’s key products, typically shrimp, crab, rice and other typical products. However, finding stable export markets, especially markets with high standards such as the EU, is still a big challenge for many cooperatives.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen hopes that the workshop will provide in-depth analysis of requirements, rules and approaches to the EU market; propose solutions and models for effective technology application and digital transformation, helping cooperatives optimize production processes, manage quality and improve competitiveness.

Ca Mau province will create favorable conditions for cooperatives to access capital, technology and market information; accompany the Provincial Cooperative Union and related units to concretize the solutions proposed at the workshop into practical solutions for implementation in the coming time - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Chi Nguyen emphasized.

At the workshop, Irish experts discussed an overview of the EU agricultural and food market and export opportunities for Vietnam; technical standards and regulations on food safety in the EU market; EU regulations on environmental taxes, carbon emission reduction and social responsibility; technical barriers and EU customs regulations on agricultural and food imports; Halal standards for the EU market.

Experts discuss at the workshop.

According to experts, the EU is one of the most potential export markets in the world with a population of more than 740 million people and a GDP of more than 18 trillion USD. One of the most interesting new regulations for goods exported to the EU is the carbon border adjustment mechanism.

The EU will impose a carbon tax on all imported goods into the EU market based on the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions in the production process in the host country. To export to the EU and Nordic countries, businesses need to clearly understand the regulations and market trends to have a new approach.

In addition, experts said: To export officially, businesses first need to research and clearly identify the target market and the accompanying standards and regulations; evaluate current capacity and plan to convert production models. Businesses need to comply with the laws of the host country when carrying out customs procedures, avoiding legal risks as well as ensuring that goods are cleared smoothly.

At the workshop, experts from the Institute of Science, Technology and Environment discussed the application of production processes that meet export standards for the collective economic sector and cooperatives; solutions for applying science, technology, innovation and digital transformation to cooperatives; and introduced the "Online Agricultural Food Market" of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. Agriterra representatives in Vietnam also exchanged experiences in innovation and digital transformation for cooperatives.

Representatives of cooperatives participated in the discussion at the workshop.

At the workshop, representatives of cooperatives inside and outside the province directly discussed with experts about EU consumers' tastes in functional foods; the desire to export organic biological products; criteria to be met when exporting seafood to the EU; ensuring a stable supply during off-season production; EU market standards...
