On the morning of September 18th, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, together with the Propaganda Department of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, held a press conference for the third quarter and provided information on the 70th anniversary of the regrouping to the North (1954-2024).
Mr. Tieu Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, said that the peak of the celebration commemorating the 70th anniversary of the regrouping to the North will take place from November 10th to November 25th.

The event included approximately 10 prominent activities such as: a commemorative ceremony themed "A Promise for Reunification"; a scientific seminar themed "200 Days of Mobilization to the North in Ca Mau: Strategic Vision and Historical Value"; activities reenacting the 200-day mobilization to the North; a ceremony to receive the National Monument ranking certificate for the mobilization site in late 1954 and early 1955;…
Specifically, the reenactment of the 200-day event of the 1954 regrouping to the North is scheduled to take place from November 11-17 in Tri Luc and Tri Phai communes of Thoi Binh district.
"This activity mobilized approximately 7,000 participants, including officials, civil servants, artists, historical witnesses, youth union members, young people, households, and local residents," informed the leader of the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union (the organizing agency of the activity).
According to Mr. Tieu Minh Tien, the 70th anniversary celebration of the regrouping in the North was organized to promote and educate about historical traditions, patriotism, national pride and self-respect; to instill the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," to awaken the spirit of great unity, self-reliance, self-strength, and the aspiration for a prosperous and happy country.
"Through the activities of the event, we aim to introduce and promote the homeland and people of Ca Mau – brave, resilient, friendly, and hospitable – contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of the people," Mr. Tien said.
In 1954, after the Geneva Accords were signed, the Song Doc estuary (Song Doc town) was chosen as a staging area to transport soldiers, cadres, and civilians from the South to the North.
This event is considered a momentous shift in forces, aimed at training cadres for the revolution in the South, advancing the North towards socialism, and creating a solid rear base for the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
