Suphawut Thueanklang, born in 1989, was registered by the Dak Lak Lottery Club to participate in the 2025 National 7-a-side Football Championship (VPL-S6). This tournament allows hiring one foreign player and one overseas Vietnamese player from 2023.
Suphawut has played for the Thai futsal team since 2008, scoring 191 goals in 96 appearances. Of these, more than 23 were against the Vietnamese futsal team.
This 1.79m tall striker has participated in 4 World Cups with the Thai futsal team, receiving the title of "Best goal of the 2016 World Cup futsal" in the match where Thailand beat Cuba 8-5. He also received the title of "Best futsal player of Asia 2013".
Suphawut has played abroad for strong clubs in Spain, Japan and Iran. At the age of 36, he is still the main scorer of the Thai futsal team. And now, he has chosen to come to Vietnam to participate in a amateur football tournament instead of a professional futsal club in Vietnam.
Suphawut came to Dak Lak XSKT Club through his relationship with Technical Director Phan Tran Tuan Anh. Mr. Tuan Anh used to be the head of the Saigon Futsal Club - the team that was dissolved after winning the 2022 National Futsal Cup.
Explaining the decision to invite Suphawut, Technical Director Phan Tran Tuan Anh of Dak Lak Lottery said it was to fulfill the ambition of going far in the VPL-S6 final round.
He said: "His futsal level has reached world- class level, so it is very suitable for the tactics that the club is aiming for. Hopefully Suphawut will quickly adapt to the new environment and shine as expected."
It is known that Suphawut will be in Hanoi at noon on July 20 and will be able to play for XSKT Dak Lak Club in the afternoon or evening of the same day.
