On the evening of March 1, the leader of the People's Committee of Vinh Thinh commune (Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province) confirmed that a wind turbine blade had just fallen in the area. This blade belonged to the Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant - Phase 1.

According to initial information, at around 5:30 p.m. the same day, people living near the wind power tower in Vinh Thinh commune were surprised when the fan blade (three-split) of turbine tower number 8 suddenly fell to the ground.
At the scene, three propeller blades tens of meters long were broken into many pieces. Hundreds of curious people gathered in this area.
On the same afternoon, a leader of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh district said that he had received information about the incident and was directing the police to clarify the cause and determine the damage. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any human casualties.
Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant (phase 1) has a capacity of 80MW with a total investment capital of more than VND 3,700 billion, invested by Hacom Bac Lieu Energy Joint Stock Company.
The project is built on an area of nearly 30 hectares with 26 turbine towers, over 140m high, with an average output of 280 million kWh/year.
This is the largest wind power plant on land, located along the coast in the Mekong Delta region.
