The Tan Hop 1 Wind Power Plant project, proposed by Thanh An Wind Power Joint Stock Company, has a total investment of over 2,098 billion VND, a designed capacity of 50 MW, and consists of 8 wind turbines (each with a capacity of 6.25 MW). The project will be implemented in Khe Sanh commune, Huong Hoa district, on an area of approximately 12.99 hectares, plus 9.15 hectares temporarily occupied during construction.
The main components include the turbine installation area, a 35/110 kV booster station, connecting power lines, roads, and an operation and management building. The expected implementation time is 21 months from the completion of the investor selection process.
Meanwhile, the Phong Lieu Wind Power Plant Expansion Project, invested by Phong Lieu Wind Power Joint Stock Company, has a total capital of VND 1,400 billion, a capacity of 35 MW with 7 wind turbines (each turbine approximately 5 MW). The project is being implemented in Khe Sanh, Lao Bao, and Huong Phung communes (Huong Hoa district), using 12.25 hectares of land with a limited term and 10.4 hectares of temporary land during construction. The project will connect to the Huong Tan 220kV substation via a 35kV transmission line, with an implementation period of approximately 32 months and an operating period of 50 years.
Both projects belong to sectors with special investment incentives and are implemented in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions; therefore, they are entitled to many preferential policies and investment support as stipulated by the State.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over the bidding process and select investors; and to coordinate with the Department of Finance, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Construction, and relevant localities in the province to guide, supervise, and ensure that the project is implemented on schedule and in accordance with the law.
The approval of two wind power projects with a total capacity of 85 MW further affirms Quang Tri province's determination to develop renewable energy, aiming to become a green energy hub in the Central region, contributing to the effective implementation of the Power Development Plan VIII and the local strategy for green and sustainable economic development.
