The workshop took place against the backdrop of Vietnam's accelerated digital transformation, development of the digital economy and smart manufacturing, viewing science, technology, innovation, and data as crucial drivers for green growth and enhancing national competitiveness.
Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo identified science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation as top strategic breakthroughs, including the requirement to accelerate smart production, especially in the agricultural sector. However, practice shows that the connection between high-tech application zones, agricultural startup ecosystems, businesses, commercial banks, and green finance sources remains fragmented. This is considered a major gap in the context of Vietnam's agriculture needing to rapidly transform towards a green, circular direction, meeting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards and improving access to green credit.
The workshop was organized to create a space for in-depth discussion and strengthen multi-stakeholder cooperation among high-tech application zones, agricultural businesses and startups, banks, and investors, thereby gradually forming an effective linkage mechanism to bring innovation and digital transformation into practice at the local level. Delegates focused on discussing the role of high-tech application zones in supporting innovative startups, promoting ESG and green finance, and sharing experiences and successful lessons in developing high-tech agriculture linked to sustainable development.
Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Tran Van Anh, Deputy Director of MSD Institute, emphasized that high-tech agriculture is not only a technical direction but also an important component of the national growth model innovation strategy. The application of technology helps improve productivity, transparency in the value chain, reduce emissions, meet international standards, and create a "support system" for startups and local businesses to implement innovative solutions. As a non-profit science, technology, and social organization, MSD is committed to promoting open social innovation and green finance through its SOAR model (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results), based on the pillars of sustainable business models linked to ESG, co-creation with the community, cooperation, measurement, and transparent social impact management.

Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong, Senior Program Manager at Oxfam Vietnam, stated that in the context of Vietnam aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050, high-tech agricultural zones are becoming "convergence points" for technology, knowledge, business models, and green initiatives. These zones serve as crucial bridges between businesses, startups, investors, and banks, contributing to the promotion of the ESG ecosystem and green finance. Oxfam affirms its commitment to continuing its partnership with MSD and other partners in sharing international experiences, supporting policy analysis, enhancing technical assistance, and connecting resources for green and inclusive development.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong delivered a speech at the seminar.
At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Director of the Training School for Agricultural Cadres and Deputy Head of the ESG Steering Committee of Agribank, shared solutions to promote ESG and green finance in agricultural enterprises, focusing on building and perfecting ESG criteria, integrating ESG into business strategies, publicly committing to sustainable development, improving organizational models, measuring and evaluating ESG results, building brands according to green standards, and enhancing climate risk management capacity and human resource quality. These contents were considered important foundations for agricultural enterprises to improve their access to green credit and participate more deeply in sustainable value chains.

Through this workshop, the participants expect to promote more effective connections between high-tech application zones and the local innovation ecosystem, while also contributing to resolving bottlenecks in green finance and ESG practices in agriculture, opening up opportunities for cooperation and sustainable development in the coming period.
