In his opening remarks at the sports festival, Major General Phung Ngoc Son stated that in recent years, physical training and sports activities within the General Department of Engineering have been continuously organized and maintained, developing strongly and making a significant contribution to the fulfillment of political tasks at agencies and units under the General Department of Engineering. The 2023 General Department of Engineering Football and Volleyball Festival is an opportunity to evaluate the results of physical training and sports activities of agencies and units within the General Department of Engineering. It is also a festival for agencies and units within the General Department of Engineering to meet, interact, and learn from each other; thereby strengthening solidarity and unity, and achieving good results to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the General Department of Engineering's Traditional Day (September 10, 2024).

In keeping with the TCKT's tradition of "Proactiveness, creativity, self-reliance, and self-strength," the 2023 TCKT Football and Volleyball Tournament serves as a driving force to encourage and motivate the spirit of labor, production, study, and work; while simultaneously improving the material and spiritual lives of officers, soldiers, and defense employees throughout the TCKT.

On the same day, the opening football match of the sports festival between the General Staff and the Military Technical College 1 took place in a dramatic and exciting manner. With a superior performance, the General Staff team secured a 4-0 victory over their opponent, thus earning a chance to advance to the next round of the tournament, aiming for the championship. The sports festival runs from August 16th to 23rd, with the participation of over 500 comrades, including referees, coaches, and athletes from units under the General Department of Technical Services.
