According to a report from Hoanh Son Medical Center, floods have caused nearly 1,500 households and schools such as Ky Thinh 1 Primary School in Tay Yen and Canh Truong Residential Groups; Ky Thinh Kindergarten in Dong Phong cluster, Tay Yen cluster; Ky Loi Primary School, Ky Loi Kindergarten, Trinh Loi Secondary School in Hai Thanh... to be flooded.

Doctor Le Van Luyen - Head of Ky Thinh Medical Station said: During this flood, 3 residential groups: Truong Yen, Truong Phu, Canh Truong were all deeply flooded, sanitation works and wells were all infiltrated by flood water, so as soon as the water receded, environmental sanitation work was quickly deployed with the spirit of handling the situation as the water receded. The station mobilized 15 officers to go down to schools to work with mass organizations and teachers to clean and disinfect classrooms. In addition, officers were sent to each residential group to guide sanitation work, collect wastewater and use chemicals to clean domestic water sources, preventing the risk of disease outbreaks that could occur after the flood.

Not only in Vung Ang ward, but also in flooded areas in Song Tri ward and Hoanh Son ward, after the floodwaters receded, the health sector, together with local Party committees, authorities, police and military forces, quickly stepped in to support schools and households in environmental sanitation and waste collection. The health sector sprayed chemicals to disinfect, sterilize and clean the water source for people.

Mr. Vo Van Phong - Director of Hoanh Son Medical Center said: "The center has provided chemicals for disinfection and water purification to medical stations. As soon as the flood receded, the center mobilized all staff to the flooded areas to support medical stations in guiding environmental sanitation and preventing epidemics. Currently, forces from the medical sector, youth union, women's union, police, army and people are urgently deploying, striving to complete the environmental sanitation, disinfection and sterilization work by tomorrow."

Medical staff assisted people in cleaning up their water sources as soon as the floodwaters receded.

After floods, the risk of outbreaks of diseases such as diarrhea, pink eye, respiratory infections, athlete's foot, flu, dengue fever, especially diseases transmitted through the digestive tract such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid... is very high, so localities need not be subjective or negligent.

Disinfectants and water purification chemicals have been fully distributed, so when the flood recedes, localities need to quickly take action to treat the environment and prevent the risk of disease outbreaks. Medical centers and health stations should strengthen community surveillance, early detection of pathogens and cases of disease to proactively take early prevention and control measures.
