
Pottery making has been an integral part of the economic , cultural, and social life of the Cham people in Bau Truc village for many generations.
The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just approved the Project on Management, Protection and Promotion of the Value of the Intangible Cultural Heritage "Cham Pottery Making Art" for the period 2025-2028 and beyond, with a total implementation budget of over 205 billion VND.
The project focuses on the community practicing the heritage, state management agencies and related organizations, and is implemented in Bau Truc village and village 12 (Ninh Phuoc commune) - two typical areas that still maintain the traditional pottery making craft of the Cham people.

The cultural space of the pottery village is linked to community tourism .
The goal by 2026 is to remove the "Cham Pottery Art" heritage from the list of urgently protected heritage sites. By 2027, Khanh Hoa province will establish product quality standards, register the "Cham Pottery" trademark for Bau Truc pottery, and complete the plan for protecting the cultural space of the pottery village and the plan for a community-based tourism development model associated with the craft village. From 2028 to 2030 and beyond, the project aims to have Cham pottery art inscribed as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Khanh Hoa province has established product quality standards and registered the trademark "Cham Pottery" for Bau Truc pottery.
According to estimates, the project will be funded with approximately 163.5 billion VND from the central and local budgets; the remainder will be mobilized from domestic and international social sources. The funds will be used for infrastructure investment, preservation of cultural spaces, traditional craft transmission, training of young artisans, research, promotion, and market development of Cham pottery products.
