QNgTV - Following repeated landslides on National Highway 24 through Vi O Lak Pass, which disrupted traffic and posed a potential safety risk, the Quang Ngai construction sector will conduct a comprehensive survey and assessment to develop an investment plan.

The Quang Ngai Department of Construction has issued a decision to award the contract for "Consulting services for surveying and preparing a proposal for investment in the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 24, section Km32 - Km 89+513" after a long period of serious landslides along the road.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nhan, Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Construction, stated that National Highway 24 is an important provincial transportation route, connecting National Highway 1 to the Ho Chi Minh Highway and border crossings. Therefore, repairing the damage is necessary to improve the quality of the structure, extend its lifespan, and especially to minimize landslides that disrupt traffic, significantly impacting trade and rescue operations. Damaged sections and landslide locations will be assessed in detail to develop comprehensive solutions such as constructing embankment slopes, drainage systems, guardrails, and adjusting the roadbed structure. Simultaneously, relevant authorities will add necessary items such as warning lights and signs to ensure the safety of vehicles.

To ensure smooth traffic flow on National Highway 24, especially during the rainy season when landslides are likely, the Quang Ngai Department of Construction has assessed that this crucial road is seriously affected and has many shortcomings. Therefore, the requirement for this survey and assessment is to thoroughly investigate and clarify the weaknesses and existing problems in order to propose effective and long-term solutions.
