Vietnamese aspirations of designer Vu Viet Ha and designer Cao Minh Tien when bringing folk materials to the fashion catwalk

On the afternoon of October 26, Vietnam International Fashion Week - Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week 2023 officially announced the list of designers and fashion brands that will participate in the Fall-Winter season in Hanoi.

Accordingly, there are 16 domestic and international designers and fashion brands, including: Vu Viet Ha, Cao Minh Tien, Phan Dang Hoang, Hoang Quyen, Nguyen Thanh Danh, Pham Tran Thu Hang, Thao Nguyen, Priyo Oktaviano (Indonesia), Henry Kof, Xuan Thu Nguyen, Ivan Tran, Adrian Anh Tuan, Leisure Project (Thailand), IHF, CEM by Le Minh Ngoc... In particular, this is the first time that young and potential designers such as Phan Dang Hoang, Nguyen Thanh Danh, Pham Tran Thu Hang... participate in Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week. The fashion collections of designers Vu Viet Ha, Phan Dang Hoang and Cao Minh Tien will open the event Vietnam International Fashion Week 2023.

This year, the theme of Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week will continue to write the story of sustainable fashion with the theme "Shaping The Future", honoring natural and environmentally friendly materials.

"In recent years, following the general trend of world fashion, Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week has been trying to convey the message of sustainable fashion development to designers, consumers and the audience of the program. We want to extend the mission of bringing domestic fashion to the world and be a bridge to bring world fashion trends to integrate into Vietnam.

And above all, the program's organizers also want to aim for a more modern and youthful color. At the same time, through the skillful hands of designers and prestigious domestic and international fashion brands, this year's collections will touch the "hearts" of fashionistas, from which consumers can better understand the messages and multi-dimensional aspects of sustainable fashion," emphasized Ms. Trang Le - President of the Association of Southeast Asian Fashion Designers (CAFD) and President of Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week 2023.

Sharing about the collection called "Wave Silk" that will open Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week 2023, designer Vu Viet Ha said: "Inspired by silk waves, my collection uses 100% silk material and is woven according to my design. The collection has a contrast between the transparent material and the panels and the contrast of the waves, creating a very strong spread of optimism and positive energy. This is the message I want to send to all fashion lovers."

Designer Cao Minh Tien wants to bring highland brocade to the world fashion stage

Designer Cao Minh Tien also shared: "This is the first time I have participated in Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week. I have a very special love for the garment materials of ethnic minorities in particular and the folk materials of rural Vietnam in general. I have a great inspiration for traditional craft villages. The fact that I exploit brocade patterns of ethnic minorities in this collection aims to convey the beauty and values ​​of folk materials.

We know that the highlanders have hand-woven and dyed fabrics, hand-embroidered all the patterns and use many different forms of decoration. Each step requires meticulousness, carefulness and a lot of dedication, effort, time and money. However, these valuable and culturally rich products are not widely known or widely applied in fashion. In particular, now there are very few people who follow this manual method.

Therefore, to get satisfactory hand-woven fabrics, I have to go to very remote villages. From these materials, I transform and create to mix with the world's trendy materials, create youthful fashion designs and renew folk materials. From there, I extend my love for traditional materials and bring Vietnamese fashion to the world."

Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week 2023 will officially take place from November 8 - 11, 2023 at Quan Ngua Sports Palace, Hanoi.
