On October 31, the Department of Health of Quang Ngai province said that the authorities had crossed the forest and many landslides to bring a pregnant woman to the province's Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for timely emergency care.

Previously, at about 3:30 p.m. on October 30, Son Tay Medical Center, Quang Ngai province received pregnant woman D.TD (residing in Son Tay commune), 38 weeks pregnant with severe preeclampsia.

“The only way to save the patient is surgery. However, the road from Son Tay to the provincial center is cut off due to serious landslides, making transportation extremely difficult,” said a representative of the Department of Health.

Faced with the emergency, local authorities, medical staff and rescue forces used a stretcher to carry the pregnant woman through the forest and across many landslides to get out of the isolated area.

The mother was then transferred by ambulance to Quang Ngai Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

By 7pm the same day, the doctors had successfully performed the surgery. The health of both mother and child has stabilized and they are being monitored and given special care at the hospital.
