Groundbreaking ceremony of Lao Cai 500kV transmission line project

Kinhtedothi - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, branches and localities to actively coordinate closely and support investors to immediately handle difficulties and obstacles in implementing the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project, speeding up progress to inaugurate it before August 31, 2025.

On the morning of March 16, the groundbreaking ceremony and launching of the emulation movement to implement the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project was held in Minh Quang commune, Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province.

The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1274 dated October 26, 2024 with a total investment of more than VND 7,400 billion, invested by Power Project Management Board 1 - Vietnam Electricity Group.

This is a national key project, playing a very important role in releasing the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national power system, increasing the system's ability to operate safely and stably, reserve electricity imports, and serve the increasing load demand of the northern provinces.

The project has a total length of 229.5km with a total of 468 pole foundation locations, passing through 4 provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc with the starting point being the 500kV Lao Cai station and the ending point being the 500kV Vinh Yen station.

Of which, the power line passing through Vinh Phuc province is 48.6km long, passing through 16 communes/towns in 5 districts with a total of 101/468 pole foundation locations; 51 households must be resettled.

Up to now, Vinh Phuc has basically completed compensation and site clearance (GPMB) work and handed over 100 column foundation positions to the investor to implement the project according to plan.

Speed ​​up project implementation

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, branches and localities to actively coordinate closely and support investors to immediately handle difficulties and problems arising during the project implementation process, speed up progress to inaugurate before August 31, 2025, but must ensure quality, environmental sanitation, lower prices, and better social security work.

The Prime Minister requested the leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group and Power Project Management Board 1 to regularly monitor the project, grasp difficulties and obstacles to resolve them thoroughly; and pay attention to the lives of workers.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment supports in removing difficulties in compensation for site clearance; completely resolves land-related procedures in March 2025.

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor builds, launches, and summarizes a vibrant patriotic emulation movement, arouses national pride, promptly encourages and rewards, and creates an enthusiastic working atmosphere, all for the benefit of the nation and people.

On behalf of the leaders of the provinces where the project passes, Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong promised to make every effort to basically complete the clearance of the route corridor before April 30, 2025; Vinh Phuc province alone committed to completing and handing over the site before April 15, 2025, 15 days earlier than the request of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the energy sector.

At the same time, we pledge to continue to accompany and provide maximum support to Vietnam Electricity Group and contractors in resolving issues arising during the project implementation process, creating the most favorable conditions for the project to be completed soon, put into operation, contributing to ensuring energy security and promoting socio-economic development of the province and the region.

 

Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong requested Vietnam Electricity Group, the Project Management Board, and contractors to focus resources, strictly comply with regulations on techniques, labor safety, and environmental protection during construction. Coordinate closely and promptly with local authorities to resolve arising issues, especially petitions from people affected by the project.
