This is the opening activity in the campaign "Blue Ocean - Blue Future" to raise awareness, foster love for the ocean and spread the message of protecting the marine environment in the community.

“Drawing the Future of the Sea – Writing Your Future” is one of the activities to realize the objectives of the Regional Project “Conserving Our Oceans: Building a Healthy Relationship with the Ocean through Education for Sustainable Development in Vietnam” implemented by UNESCO in the period 2024–2025. With financial support from Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (UNIQLO’s parent company), the project emphasizes the importance of connecting education with nature conservation, focusing on educating the younger generation.

Today's ocean is facing many serious challenges due to environmental pollution, climate change, resource depletion, etc. In that context, educating, inspiring and spreading awareness of ocean protection to the young generation has become an urgent and long-term task.

The contest “Draw the future of the ocean – Write my future” is not only an art playground for primary and secondary school students but also a creative forum where they can express their thoughts and feelings about the ocean through an innocent and pure lens. Each stroke, each story in color is the way for children to express their love for the ocean, lighting up their aspirations for a green planet, a green future.

The special point of the contest is to encourage each child's own perspective. The works do not need to be elaborate in form but focus on creative content and positive messages. It can be an image of the homeland sea in memory, dreams of a clean ocean, or even a gentle but profound message to the community about the awareness of preserving and protecting the living environment.

Instead of conveying dry statistics about pollution or climate change, the approach through art, specifically painting, helps to evoke emotions, thereby forming sustainable awareness in each person's consciousness. A painting can stimulate the imagination, helping each child understand that protecting the ocean means protecting their own home, protecting their own future.

Not only does the competition have educational significance, it is also an opportunity for students’ creative ideas to be widely spread to the community. The works that pass the preliminary round will be posted on social networks for the community to vote, creating a space for exchange, sharing and connection between art lovers and nature lovers. The final results will be determined based on a combination of public votes and expert panel evaluations.

With a total prize value of up to 30 million VND and a certificate from the Organizing Committee, the contest is not only a useful playground but also an opportunity for students to confidently express themselves, practice skills, and foster a sense of responsibility towards the surrounding living environment.

Joining hands to protect the environment and the ocean needs to start from the smallest actions, from each family, each school and each child today. Through activities such as “Drawing the future of the ocean – Writing my future”, children not only learn to love the ocean and appreciate natural resources, but also understand the value of creative work, responsibility to the community and the country.

The colorful pictures and simple but sincere messages sent by the students to the contest are green shoots of hope, contributing to the formation of a generation of young citizens who love nature, know how to preserve the ocean, and protect the living environment for today and tomorrow.
