On January 2nd, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Security, announced that the Department of Investigation of Crimes related to Corruption, Economics, and Smuggling (Ministry of Public Security) has issued a decision to prosecute, an arrest warrant for temporary detention, and a search warrant against Mr. Tran Van Hiep (58 years old), Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, for the crime of accepting bribes.

After the Supreme People's Procuratorate approved the decisions, the Department of Police Investigation of Corruption, Economic Crimes , and Smuggling implemented them.

This afternoon, many police officers were present at the home of Mr. Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, on Yersin Street, Ward 9, Da Lat City. After the police task force entered the house, the gate was locked.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, the Department of Investigation of Crimes related to Corruption, Economics, and Smuggling is investigating a case of bribery, receiving bribes, and abuse of power and authority while performing official duties, which occurred in Lam Dong province and several related localities. This case is under the monitoring and direction of the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, an expanded investigation into the case has determined that Mr. Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, committed acts of bribery related to the Dai Ninh commercial, tourism, and ecological resort urban area project (Lam Dong province). Mr. Tran Van Hiep's actions constitute the crime of accepting bribes, as stipulated in Clause 4, Article 354 of the 2015 Penal Code (amended and supplemented in 2017).

Currently, the Department of Investigation of Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling under the Ministry of Public Security is continuing to expand the investigation into the case; reviewing, seizing, and freezing the assets of the suspects to ensure thorough recovery for the State.
