Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his profound gratitude to the outstanding sons and daughters of the nation who bravely fought and sacrificed for the peace, independence, and unity of the country, the happiness and prosperity of the people, and noble international duties.
The Prime Minister expressed his emotion at the tireless efforts of the officers and soldiers of the K90, K91, and K92 teams (Military Region 9) in the search, collection, and repatriation of the remains of fallen soldiers over the past period.

The Prime Minister stated that it is heartbreaking that after the war, our country still has many landmines, making the search for the remains of fallen soldiers extremely difficult, arduous, and costly. Many officers and soldiers were injured, contracted serious illnesses, or even sacrificed their lives. Therefore, this is a task not only of responsibility but also of heart, emotion, and the national tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source."
The Prime Minister stated that from 2001 to the present, search and recovery efforts have recovered more than 11,500 remains of fallen soldiers, including 8,180 in Cambodia. Within Vietnam, search teams have recovered 3,345 remains, with 264 identified and handed over to local authorities for burial. Currently, the country has over 1.2 million fallen soldiers, of which more than 300,000 still lack complete information, and 175,000 have not had their place of sacrifice identified. The country also has approximately 652,000 wounded soldiers, 198,000 disabled soldiers, and over 132,000 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers.

Continuing to affirm that the search for and collection of the remains of fallen soldiers is a matter of special concern for the Party and the State, the Prime Minister stated that this is a profound expression of gratitude to the outstanding sons and daughters who sacrificed for the Fatherland, demonstrating the traditional moral principles of "drinking water, remembering the source" and "repaying gratitude" of our nation. This is a particularly important task, deeply humane, expressing profound gratitude and appreciation for the heroic sacrifices of the heroes and martyrs for the independence and freedom of the nation, for noble international duties, and for peace, stability, and development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Party and the State will continue to do their utmost, mobilizing the entire political system and society to more effectively carry out the work of searching for, collecting, and identifying the remains of martyrs, so that no martyr is forgotten and no martyr's family has to wait in vain. We must do this with all our capabilities, hearts, and compassion to bring joy to the martyrs' families and the people, so that the country may forever endure and develop.

The Prime Minister requested that Party committees, authorities, and the Steering Committee 515 at all levels continue to thoroughly understand the Party and State's guidelines and policies; coordinate synchronously, and mobilize the entire political system and society to participate in the work of searching for, collecting, and identifying the remains of martyrs. He also urged the acceleration of digital technology applications, the development of databases on martyrs and their graves, and the connection of information, codes, and combat units to facilitate identity verification.
The Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of National Defence to take the lead and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to strengthen international cooperation, especially with Cambodia, to facilitate the search and repatriation of remains. Furthermore, greater attention should be paid to the material and spiritual well-being of officers and soldiers involved in the search, repatriation, and identification of fallen soldiers. Outstanding achievements should be promptly recognized and rewarded, and the spirit of gratitude towards fallen soldiers should continue to be spread.
