This is the first university in the country to announce the cancellation of admission exams because there is not enough basis to convert equivalent scores using the percentile method.
Unexpectedly eliminating 5 industries due to lack of basis for converting scores
Saigon University has just announced the equivalent conversion for the admission method using the results of the capacity assessment test of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
Saigon University does not convert the admission method using the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam to the admission method using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam for majors with the original combination of A00 (math, physics, chemistry), and C00 (literature, history, geography).
With this "last minute" decision of the school, up to 5 majors were affected, including: history, geography, information - library, applied mathematics, and data science .
Previously, this school also announced that it would not consider the results of the competency assessment exam for pedagogical majors (15 majors).
Explaining this sudden decision, the school leader said "because there is not enough basis to make equivalent conversion".
The school's decision was made after Ho Chi Minh City National University announced the percentile table between the capacity assessment score and the high school graduation exam score in the four groups A01 (math, physics, English), B00 (math, chemistry, biology), C01 (math, literature, physics), D01 (math, literature, English).
In 2025, Saigon University will apply 4 methods: direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , considering high school graduation exam scores for non-pedagogical majors, considering Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores; considering the results of the V-SAT computer-based university entrance exam for non-pedagogical majors.
Faced with this unexpected decision by the school, many parents and candidates were upset: "The registration deadline is almost over, I changed my admission wishes, then the school announced that the admission was canceled because the score exchange rule could not be implemented.
Why not announce it from the beginning so that students and parents can calculate? Students spend so much effort to prepare for the assessment test, now they come up with a point conversion scheme to take away their chance of admission?
Regulations on the original combination of Saigon University
The Ministry of Education and Training requires the conversion of scores from separate exams.
In July 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training issued regulations on comparing the score distribution of some combinations of high school exam scores in 2025 and high school study scores: "In case of using the results of separate exams (capacity assessment, thinking assessment...) and other methods, based on the percentile announcement of the units organizing the separate exams, the training institution determines the most suitable combination (original combination, usually the combination with the highest correlation coefficient between the two exams) to convert with the results of the separate exam, without building a bridging relationship".
