Specifically, from January 1, 2023 to November 5, 2023, the total import-export turnover reached nearly 3 billion USD, of which import turnover reached 1.242 billion USD (down 29.36% over the same period in 2022) and export turnover reached 1.756 billion USD (down 16.22% over the same period in 2022).
Import-export tax revenue paid to the state budget was VND 2,703 billion, reaching 54% of the assigned target (VND 5,000 billion), down 43.8% over the same period in 2022.
Mr. Quach Dang Hoa - Director of Da Nang City Customs Department said that in recent years, the world situation has had many fluctuations due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition between major economies continues and the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine has had a significant impact on our country's economy. Enterprises have encountered many difficulties in production and business activities.
Sharing these difficulties, the Customs sector in general and the Da Nang City Customs Department in particular identify accompanying businesses as the need and responsibility of the sector in supporting businesses to overcome difficulties as well as increasing motivation for businesses to develop and integrate deeply and widely into the world economy.
“However, in addition to the achievements, in recent times, sometimes and in some places, the partnership between the Customs agency and the business community, as well as with relevant agencies and functional units, still has certain difficulties and obstacles,” Mr. Hoa acknowledged.
At this conference, the Customs Department and local agencies and functional units had discussions and shared experiences to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles of the business community in order to unlock resources and attract investment.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ho Ky Minh - Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee requested the City Customs Department to promote the customs - business partnership to develop more strongly. In particular, the unit needs to focus on a number of key tasks such as concentrating all resources to implement key tasks and orienting a number of activities to make the development of customs - business partnership increasingly effective and practical; at the same time, focus on expanding the development of customs - business partnership and related parties.
The Customs Department studies and advises the city on key projects of the city such as Lien Chieu port, logistics centers, construction of cargo terminal - Da Nang International Airport, and project to establish duty-free zone in Da Nang city.
For the business community and investors, Mr. Minh suggested that the business community continue to strive to overcome difficulties, adapt to the new stage; proactively innovate production and business models towards digital transformation, improve competitiveness, and move towards participating in the global value chain; join hands with the city government to strive to achieve the goal of maintaining and stably developing the city's economy.
