At the working session, the World Bank delegation briefly reported the results of working with departments, branches and field inspections in Dien Bien Phu city and Dien Bien district in the past time; the need for specific mechanisms and policies. The project's goal is to support the transition to a greener economy , adapting to climate change; integrating economic growth with environmental management; strengthening infrastructure for tourism activities and sustainable economic development. After the field inspection, the delegation assessed the challenges that need to be solved by the locality: an incomplete drainage system; lack of connectivity for sustainable tourism. The World Bank delegation proposed that the People's Committee of Dien Bien province adjust a number of tourism planning items, traffic networks, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Pham Duc Toan gave a preliminary report to the working delegation on the situation of attracting investment for socio-economic development in the province; the use of capital mobilized from World Bank projects. The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the proposals and recommendations of the working delegation on specific policies and mechanisms related to the investment and maintenance of transport works, especially rural transport; infrastructure development; tourism development.
Based on the research results from senior experts of the World Bank, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province will synthesize and report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to lead and direct the implementation of the next steps.
