At the workshop, delegates listened to a report on the results of the project "Strengthening capacity and mobilizing the participation of women scrap collectors in waste management, classification and treatment" being implemented in the area.
The project is funded by the United Nations Development Program, implemented from December 2024 to December 2025 for women in 3 wards of Ngu Hanh Son, An Khe and Thanh Khe.
During the project implementation, a series of practical support activities were carried out such as: communication workshops; survey of the livelihood status of women scrap collectors; training on waste classification skills at source; support with protective equipment and working tools; establishment and maintenance of women scrap collector clubs; support with loans and means of livelihood.

Based on the project results, delegates focused on discussing, analyzing survey data and contributing many ideas to build more suitable policies for the female scrap collectors - who are important contributors to the collection, classification, transportation and preliminary recycling of waste, contributing to the city's circular economy process.
Prominent are proposals to support participation in health insurance and voluntary social insurance; provide protective equipment; provide livelihoods and create a legal corridor for the group of female scrap collectors to be recognized as an official workforce, participating in the circular economic model.
The comments are the basis for the City Women's Union to advise on perfecting specific policies; thereby ensuring social security, strengthening the voice and enhancing the role of female scrap collectors...
