The first semi-final of this year’s National Volleyball Championship will take place at 5:30 p.m. In the women’s category, defending champion VTV Binh Dien Long An will face VietinBank.
In the round robin stage, the Western team did not play very convincingly. But impressive sprints in the final stage, along with a bit of luck, helped them take the top spot.
Meanwhile, VietinBank, which was considered underrated, surprised everyone by finishing 4th. The team, led by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, who is also the coach of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, showed strong fighting spirit from its young athletes.
However, VietinBank's level is still difficult to compare with VTV Binh Dien Long An, who are young but more experienced. In the round-robin stage, the defending champions were the ones who won 3-1.
Therefore, although they are having an unimpressive season, VTV Binh Dien Long An still has a great chance to reach the finals for the second consecutive time.
The men's semi-final on October 12 will be a match between defending champion Border Guard and host LPBank Ninh Binh.
The army team showed devastating form as the only team to win all of their group stage matches. They will likely continue to defeat LPBank Ninh Binh to advance to the men's final this year.
Along with the semi-finals, the tournament will continue with the relegation matches. At 12:00, Geleximco Hung Yen will face Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals in the women's category. At 14:30, Sanest Khanh Hoa will compete with Lavie Tay Ninh in the men's category.
