At the end of the first official day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals, temporarily ranking fourth after host Thailand (19 gold medals, 13 silver medals, 9 bronze medals), Indonesia (5 gold medals, 9 silver medals, 7 bronze medals), and Singapore (5 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 5 bronze medals). The Vietnamese sports delegation will fiercely compete on the second day of competition (December 11) in order to overtake their two main rivals, Singapore and Indonesia.

The athletics finals will take place from 4:50 PM. Vietnam hopes to win gold medals in the women's 1,500m with Nguyen Khanh Linh and Bui Thi Ngan, the men's 1,500m with Luong Duc Phuoc and Sam Van Doi, and the men's triple jump with Tran Van Dien and Ho Trong Manh Hung. In addition, Vietnam will also participate in the qualifying rounds of the exciting sprint events with Ngan Ngoc Nghia (men's 100m) and Hoang Du Y and Ha Thi Thu (women's 100m). Notably, the reigning women's 1,500m champion, Nguyen Thi Oanh, will not be defending her gold medal in this event at this year's SEA Games; instead, she will focus on the 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m, and 10,000m.

In swimming, the qualifying rounds will start at 9:00 AM and the finals at 6:00 PM. The Vietnamese swimming team has the highest hopes in the 100m breaststroke with Pham Thanh Bao. Other participants include Truong Vinh Trinh (50m backstroke men), Luong Jeremie Loic Nimo (50m freestyle men), Nguyen Kha Nhi (200m freestyle women), Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Han (200m individual medley women), and the 4x 200m freestyle relay men.
The gymnastics finals will take place from 2:30 PM with the participation of 4 Vietnamese athletes: Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien (pommel horse), Nguyen Van Khanh Phong (rings), Tran Doan Quynh Nam (women's uneven bars), and Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu (women's vault). Among them, Xuan Thien and Khanh Phong are expected to achieve the highest possible results.

In karate, the qualifying rounds (11:00 AM) and the finals (3:00 PM) for the men's and women's team events will take place. In the women's team, Vietnamese karate players Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Bui Ngoc Nhi, and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen are strong contenders for the gold medal, while in the men's team, Giang Viet Anh, Pham Minh Duc, Le Hong Phuc, and Pham Minh Quan are participating.
In the jujitsu competition starting at 9:00 AM, Vietnam competed in the finals of the following weight categories: men's 69 kg (Dang Dinh Tung, Pham Tri Dung), men's 85 kg (Nguyen Tien Trien, Pham Le Hoang Linh), women's 48 kg (Pham Thi Thu Ha), and women's 57 kg (Tran Hong An). Additionally, the Vietnamese jujitsu team also participated in the men's doubles (Tran Huu Tuan/Nguyen Thanh Tra; Sai Cong Nguyen/Nguyen Anh Tung) and women's doubles (Phung Thi Hong Ngoc/Nguyen Ngoc Bich) events.
The Vietnamese sports delegation also competed in rowing, with qualifying rounds starting at 9:00 AM and finals at 3:00 PM. The events in which the Vietnamese team participated included the men's 200m double kayak (Huynh Cao Minh, Nguyen Minh Tuan), men's 200m double canoeing (Pham Hong Quan, Duong Anh Duc), and mixed double kayak (Vo Duy Thanh, Do Thi Thanh Thao)...
