Vietnam U23 team receives praise; when will they face Qatar again?

On the morning of October 10th, the Vietnam U.23 team held a training session at the Al Raha Beach Resort & Spa, a luxury resort in Abu Dhabi (UAE).

Interim Vietnam U23 coach Dinh Hong Vinh allowed players who played a lot in the 0-1 loss to Qatar on the night of October 9th to rest, while those who played less were given light training in the gym.

The team's morale was clearly very high. Despite leaving the field with a loss, the players received praise from the coaching staff for their impressive performance, where we dominated the game and had nearly twice as many shots and possession as our opponents.

At 8 PM Vietnam time, the Vietnam U23 team will continue their training session on the FIFA Pitch, also part of the modern Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sport Hub sports complex, which boasts a beautiful turf that meets FIFA standards.

There will be changes, the goal is to win.

It is scheduled that at 10 PM Vietnam time (7 PM local time) on October 13th, the Vietnam U23 team will play the return match against Qatar U23 - a strong Asian team that, like us, has qualified for the AFC U23 Asian Championship six times in a row.

The fact that eight players are currently training with the Vietnamese national team under coach Kim Sang-sik, playing two matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, and against a quality "sparring partner" like Qatar, is seen as an opportunity for many new faces or those who rarely played in the 2026 U.23 Asian Cup qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium in September to showcase their abilities.

This will also be a closed-door match, allowing the coaching staffs of both teams to conduct further experiments. Looking at the impressive performances in the previous two halves, it is expected that the coaching staffs will make several adjustments to the starting lineup, aiming for a victory and a quality performance.
