On the emotional day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games on the afternoon of December 12th, the duo of athletes Nguyen Thi Huong and Ma Thi Thuy brought home a precious gold medal in the canoeing event after a tense chase, down to the hundredth of a second, with host country Thailand.

This was one of the most dramatic medal contests for the Vietnamese rowing team at this year's SEA Games, with Huong and Thuy finishing just 0.10 seconds ahead of their Thai opponents.
The finish line was so close that the organizers had to use photographs to confirm the final result.

The finish line between the Vietnamese and Thai duo was incredibly dramatic and nail-biting.


Nguyen Thi Huong and Ma Thi Thuy excellently won the gold medal.
This victory is even more significant for Nguyen Thi Huong as it is her second gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. Previously, on December 10th, Huong and Diep Thi Huong excellently won the gold medal in the women's 500m double sculls event.
The brilliant performances of Nguyen Thi Huong and Ma Thi Thuy further affirmed the strength of the Vietnamese rowing team, while also bringing intense emotions to fans who had followed the competition and erupted in joy when the red flag with a yellow star flew high in Thailand.
