The Vietnam Football Federation has a new General Secretary.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The 7th Congress of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), 9th term, agreed to allow General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi to step down.

The resignation of General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi from his current position will be approved by the VFF at the organization's annual General Assembly, which took place this morning (November 22).

Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi unexpectedly took the position of General Secretary of the VFF at the beginning of the 9th term, replacing Mr. Le Hoai Anh. Prior to that, Mr. Khoi had held the position of head of the Organizing Committee of the V-League.

During his tenure, Duong Nghiep Khoi was known for his meticulousness, his deep understanding of Vietnamese football, and his good relationships with many domestic football clubs and sports officials.

Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi's limitation is that he is not proficient in foreign languages, while the position of Secretary General frequently involves external relations with international football organizations and international football federations, thus requiring someone with strong foreign language skills.

The person replacing Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi as General Secretary of the VFF after the VFF's annual congress this morning is Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, head of the VFF Medical Committee. Before being appointed as General Secretary of the VFF, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu held the positions of Deputy Head of the VFF Medical Committee and Head of the VFF Sports Medicine Department.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu is considered to have extensive experience in management, having held positions such as: Head of the Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy, Vietnam Sports Hospital; Secretary of the Party Branch of the Clinical Departments, Party Committee of Vietnam Sports Hospital; Deputy Director of the Sports Hospital; Secretary of the Party Branch and Director of the Doping and Sports Medicine Center.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu is also known as one of the officials actively involved in international football activities, serving as a member of the Medical Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and participating in many professional events on sports medicine both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu officially began his work as the General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on November 23rd and will continue until the end of the 9th term of the VFF. This decision was officially announced at the 2024 VFF Annual Congress held this morning (November 22nd) at the VFF headquarters.
