On the morning of September 12, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation (VTF) announced the bonus for athletes and coaches if they achieve results at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand later this year.
Accordingly, the gold medalist will receive a bonus of 700 USD (about 18.5 million VND), and the coach will receive a bonus of 350 USD (about 9.2 million VND).
Athletes who win silver and bronze medals will receive cash bonuses of 500 USD (about 13.2 million VND) and 300 USD (about 7.9 million VND) respectively. Coaches will receive cash bonuses of 250 USD (about 6.6 million VND) and 150 USD (about 4 million VND) respectively.
This is a higher bonus than the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. In particular, there is an additional bonus for the coach, which was not available in the previous SEA Games.
At SEA Games 32, athletes with achievements were rewarded by VTF with 500 USD (gold medal), 300 USD (silver medal) and 200 USD (bronze medal).

VTF President Truong Ngoc De said that the bonus level has been increased and there is an additional bonus level for coaches, to encourage athletes and coaches to strive to achieve results for Vietnamese taekwondo in particular and Vietnamese sports in general at the 33rd SEA Games.
Mr. Truong Ngoc De said: "In addition to professional preparation, we always try to encourage and reward promptly to create more excitement for athletes when competing. For coaches, this bonus will help them prepare and direct tactics better."
Taekwondo will compete from December 10 to 13, 2025 in Bangkok (Thailand). Vietnamese Taekwondo will participate in 10/14 individual events for men and women and 4 forms events (men's team standard form, women's team standard form, mixed doubles form and team creative form).
The taekwondo target Vietnam registered with the Department of Sports and Physical Training is to win 3 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games, but will strive to win 4 gold medals (2 sparring and 2 forms).
At the 32nd SEA Games, Vietnamese taekwondo won 4 gold medals (2 in combat), ranking 3rd overall after Thailand (7 gold medals) and the Philippines (6 gold medals).
