According to information from the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnamese sports delegation is expected to have more than 1,000 members participating in the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand next December.
Currently, the professional departments of the sports industry are completing the review of the list of athletes, coaches and delegation officials to submit to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for approval.
According to the plan, in addition to the teams funded by the state, some sports will participate with socialized resources from the Federations and Sports Associations. These include sports such as baseball, bowling, sport climbing, tug of war, skateboarding, teqball, MMA, motorboating and Esports. This is considered a flexible way to help many new sports have the opportunity to participate in the regional arena.
It is known that the Vietnamese sports delegation will participate in more than 40 competitions, including strong sports such as athletics, swimming, wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, karate, fencing, boxing, wushu, muay, football, volleyball, basketball, sepak takraw, table tennis and tennis.
In addition, Vietnam also has representatives in new sports such as skating, e-sports, golf and triathlon.
The 33rd SEA Games will officially open on December 9 in Bangkok, with the participation of 11 Southeast Asian countries. With just over 40 days left before the opening ceremony, Vietnam's preparations are almost complete. Sports leaders aim to ensure training conditions, nutrition and equipment for athletes, while striving to be in the top 3 of the entire delegation.
According to calculations from the sports, Vietnam is likely to win at least 75 gold medals at this Games. After completing the review process, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will soon sign the decision to establish the Vietnam Sports Delegation to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
At the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, the Vietnamese delegation made a splash when they topped the medal tally with 136 gold medals, 105 silver medals and 114 bronze medals, becoming the leading sports power in Southeast Asia. That achievement is the motivation for the Vietnamese delegation to continue to affirm its position at the upcoming SEA Games.
