Vietnam and China Coast Guard strengthen cooperation

On the afternoon of December 9, in Hanoi, Major General Le Dinh Cuong, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, received Colonel Khuong Ba, Chinese Defense Attaché in Vietnam.

At the reception, Major General Le Dinh Cuong assessed that in recent times, the Vietnam-China relationship has maintained a good momentum of development. Senior leaders of the two Parties, two countries, and two armies regularly visit each other, meet, have close exchanges, and reach many important common perceptions on the development orientation of the relationship between the two countries.

In particular, the relationship between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the China Coast Guard has been constantly strengthened and developed. The leaders of the Coast Guards of the two countries regularly hold online phone calls and meet within the framework of international multilateral events to discuss and promote cooperation as well as share issues of mutual concern.

The Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard hopes that the Chinese Defense Attaché will play the role of a bridge and actively promote defense cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries; focusing on increasing the exchange of delegations at all levels to expand cooperation areas, contributing to promoting friendly relations and strengthening political trust between the two countries' Armies and Coast Guards; and promoting the hotline mechanism and joint patrol mechanism in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Colonel Khuong Ba congratulated Major General Le Dinh Cuong on being appointed Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard by the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and expressed his belief that under the leadership of Major General Le Dinh Cuong, cooperation between the Coast Guard forces of the two countries will continue to develop.

Colonel Khuong Ba affirmed that he is ready to coordinate with the functional agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam Coast Guard to deploy and promote bilateral defense cooperation based on the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders to maintain a peaceful and stable environment at sea and create favorable conditions to expand cooperation between the two countries' Coast Guards.
