In just over an hour, the water from the Cu De River rose abnormally, flooding into residential areas. Although the locality proactively implemented a plan to evacuate residents, with 60 households comprising more than 180 people trapped in the deep flood area, the situation became serious, directly threatening people's lives.

Upon receiving the news, Colonel Tran Huu Ich - Commander of the Da Nang City Military Command immediately issued an urgent order to mobilize mobile rescue forces. Nearly 100 officers and soldiers were mobilized in the shortest time with two canoes ST-750, ST-660 and two specialized rescue vehicles quickly set off, ready to approach the deep flooded area, bringing people out of the danger zone.

“At night, we must approach and rescue people from the danger zone at all costs. I have reported to the Military Region Command for direction and mobilization of mobile forces that night,” Colonel Tran Huu Ich emphasized.

After 1 a.m., amid heavy rain and strong currents, the city's armed forces split into several small groups, coordinating with the police, militia and local authorities to conduct rescue operations. The canoes operated continuously, taking turns approaching each residential area, bringing the elderly, women and children to safety. Many soldiers had to swim in the cold water, carrying flashlights and lifelines to reach each house, helping people cross the deep flooded area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Chanh (a resident of Xuan Diem neighborhood, Dien Ban Bac ward) choked up as she shared: There have been floods in recent years, but never before has the water risen so quickly. Luckily, some soldiers came to the rescue. The people here are very happy and thank them very much.

At the City Military Command, relief goods including dry food, drinking water, life jackets, and medicine are continuously distributed, promptly supplying isolated residential areas. Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Hung - Deputy Chief of Staff of the City Military Command said that units are still deploying forces to each vulnerable area, determined to "leave no one behind".

At the landslide area in Tra Tan and Tra Giap communes (Da Nang city), the local armed forces marched through the night to rescue the victims.
