Mainoo is currently out of favor and no longer receives much support under coach Ruben Amorim.
According to The Athletic, that led to the 20-year-old midfielder announcing that he wanted to go on loan to another team, in order to play regularly.

In a recent meeting with the Red Devils' leadership, Mainoo expressed his wish to be loaned out because it would be better for his career development.
However, the Manchester team is unlikely to accept the proposal, because the midfield is fragile and lacks quality personnel.
Coach Ruben Amorim hopes his young student will stay and fight for a starting position, even though he has to compete with captain Bruno Fernandes.
As for Mainoo, he hopes to play consistently to get a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
The Carrington graduate has featured in most of the Three Lions' matches at Euro 2024, but has yet to be named in the squad under coach Thomas Tuchel.
Kobbie Mainoo has not played a minute in two Premier League games since the start of the season. He started in the Carabao Cup but underperformed against Grimsby Town.
