Man Utd say goodbye to 3 players after bad season

"Everyone at Man Utd thanks Victor, Jonny and Christian for their contributions during their time at Old Trafford and wishes them the best of luck in the future," Man Utd announced on parting ways with central defenders Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evan and midfielder Christian Eriksen due to the expiry of their contracts.

Centre-back Jonny Evans came through the Man Utd academy, staying with the club for nine years before leaving in 2015. He played for West Brom and Leicester before returning to the "Red Devils" in 2023 under coach Erik ten Hag.

Thus, the Northern Irish midfielder spent a total of 11 years with the Old Trafford team, appearing 241 times and scoring 8 goals, winning 3 Premier League titles and 1 Champions League title.

Midfielder Eriksen joined Man Utd in 2022 just a year after he suffered a terrible heart attack while playing for the Denmark team. The player born in 1992 has made 107 appearances for the "Red Devils", scoring 8 goals and winning an FA Cup and a League Cup.

Lindelof joined the club for £31m from Benifica in 2017, making 284 appearances and, like Eriksen, winning an FA Cup and a League Cup.

Not stopping there, according to British media, Man Utd will put the entire squad on the transfer market this summer, no name is inviolable anymore.

The underlying cause comes from the fact that the Old Trafford team cannot qualify for the Champions League next season, thereby losing up to 100 million pounds in revenue.

Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Andre Onana and Harry Maguire could all be sold, most notably captain Fernandes, who has publicly expressed his desire to leave if the board feel it is necessary.

In the final match of the Premier League, Christian Eriksen scored the decisive goal to help Man Utd defeat Aston Villa 2-0, thereby helping coach Ruben Amorim and his team end the season in 15th place with 42 points after 38 rounds.
