Although the Tu Em garment processing group in Hamlet 4, An Xuyen Commune has only been in operation for a few months, it is always operating at full capacity. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Em, more than 10 years ago, she and her son worked as garment processors for several companies in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong. Thinking that if she kept working for hire, she would never be able to change her life, in 2024, after pooling her capital, Ms. Tu Em decided to return to her hometown, investing more than 100 million VND to start a garment processing business, while creating jobs for women in need.
Currently, Ms. Tu Em’s sewing group attracts more than 10 rural workers, both male and female, with an average salary of 5 million VND/month per person. Ms. Tu Em’s family income alone is about 20 million VND/month.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, Hamlet 4, An Xuyen Commune, has been with the sewing group since its inception. Ms. Mai shared: “Sewing is suitable for the conditions, health and time of women. This job is not time-bound, I sew for about 8 hours a day, and I am paid 6 million VND/month. This amount of money is enough for me to take care of my children's education and cover my family's living expenses. More importantly, when I come here to sew, I feel like I am working in a family, everyone behaves harmoniously, cares for and supports each other a lot.”
The Cay Me sewing group, Hamlet 4, An Xuyen commune, owned by Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan, has been operating for more than 4 years. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan, head of the sewing group, said: “When it was first established, the group only had 3 workers, but now it has attracted nearly 10 members. I find that sewing is very suitable for the conditions of rural women. After paying the workers, my family still makes a profit of about 15 million VND/month.”
In An Xuyen commune, there are currently more than 10 sewing establishments and processing groups, creating jobs for over 100 local workers. The common point of these establishments is that they are all owned by women, who used to be sewing workers hired by companies before. Therefore, when establishing a sewing establishment, the women are very attentive, enthusiastically instructing the workers without charging them any fees until they are proficient in the job, many establishments also take care of their workers' breakfast, lunch...
Products of sewing groups in An Xuyen commune meet the company's requirements.
Most of the facilities and sewing teams process products so they do not have to worry about output. The designs are all designed by the company so there are clear regulations and instructions. When receiving new samples, the team will meet and then divide the sewing stages to each member. This method both promotes technical skills and creates a spirit of solidarity and teamwork within the team. Every week or month, a company representative will come to the facility to receive the processed products and pay.
Ms. Tran Thi Tu Quyen, President of the Women's Union of An Xuyen Commune, said: "The whole commune currently has more than 1,900 female members, of which there are still a number of members and women whose lives are still difficult and need jobs to cover living expenses. Therefore, the establishment of economic models in general, and sewing establishments and groups in particular, owned by women, not only meets the needs of women looking for work, but also contributes to the locality's solution to the problem of sustainable poverty reduction."
