Dismissal of Mr. Bui Van Cuong from the position of Secretary General of the National Assembly

Mr. Bui Van Cuong retired according to his personal wishes and enjoyed the regime and policies according to current regulations.

Currently, the Office of the National Assembly has 4 Vice Chairmen including Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Ms. Vu Minh Tuan, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan and Ms. Pham Dinh Toan. The National Assembly Secretariat currently has Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan, Vice Chairwoman of the Office of the National Assembly, Permanent Deputy Secretary General; Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Vice Chairman of the Law Committee, Deputy Secretary General.

According to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, the Secretary General of the National Assembly is elected, dismissed, and removed by the National Assembly, and is responsible for advising and serving the activities of the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and National Assembly deputies.

The Secretary General is responsible for advising on the proposed work program and procedures for implementing the activities of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee; coordinating with the Ethnic Council , the National Assembly Committees and relevant agencies and organizations to draft resolutions on the contents assigned by the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee.

The Secretary General is the spokesperson of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee; organizes the work of providing information, press, publishing, libraries, museums, and applying information technology to serve the activities of the National Assembly, agencies, and National Assembly deputies.

Mr. Bui Van Cuong, 56 years old; PhD in maritime safety engineering, master of maritime safety, marine operations engineer, bachelor of English. He is a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th (alternate), 12th, 13th terms; a National Assembly delegate of the 13th, 14th, 15th terms.

He used to be Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Since July 2019, he has been assigned to the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and held the position of Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee. In April 2021, the National Assembly elected Mr. Bui Van Cuong as Secretary General of the National Assembly with an approval rate of 96.88%.

Since the beginning of the term (2021) up to now, the National Assembly has dismissed 4 deputies and dismissed 14 deputies. The total number of deputies of the 15th National Assembly is currently 481.
