That was the comment of Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi at the workshop "Solutions to promote innovative entrepreneurship among students through consulting, career guidance and employment activities" on the morning of April 19, held at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education. The workshop was within the framework of the "7th National Student Entrepreneurship Day".
Deputy Minister ofEducation and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi emphasized the role of career orientation and creative startups in general education.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Training said that the workshop was not to report on the existing effectiveness but was an opportunity for leaders and representatives of schools to "dissect" the issues and bottlenecks related to the Project "Supporting students to start a business until 2025" (Project 1665), especially in the modern context with Resolution 57 on scientific and technological innovation and digital transformation taking place strongly.
"2025 is the first year of "harvesting sweet fruit" with the 2018 General Education Program, aiming to develop capacity and orient students' qualities. Career counseling for high school students is the "golden key" to help orient the future correctly, especially in the key stage of the innovative training program" - Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi emphasized.
Sharing at the workshop, Mr. Do Duc Que, Deputy Director of the General Education Department, Ministry of Education and Training, said that some localities leading in implementing entrepreneurship education in general education include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Dong Thap, Hai Phong. These models have become reference points and sources of learning for other provinces and cities.
In the period from 2020 to 2024 alone, the country recorded about 8,700 startup projects from high school students, with an average of more than 1,400 projects per year. This is a very encouraging number, clearly reflecting the change in students' awareness, thinking and actions - as well as the active participation of general education institutions across the country.

The Deputy Director of the Department of General Education pointed out 5 main difficulties in entrepreneurship education at the high school level in Vietnam, including:
- Lack of formal and systematic programs: Startup activities are still fragmented, integrated in subjects or extracurricular activities, lacking consistency and difficult to evaluate.
- Limited capacity of staff: Teachers and educational managers lack skills and specialized knowledge in entrepreneurship education and innovative thinking, and have not received proper training.
- Lack of facilities: Many schools lack creative spaces and equipment for students to practice and realize their ideas.
- The gap between school and practice: Connection with businesses and startup experts is still weak, causing students to lack opportunities to access real-world problems and professional advice.
- Career counseling is still formal: Not in-depth, not closely following the needs of the labor market, causing students to lack direction and confidence in innovative projects.
This year, the 7th National Student Startup Festival and the "Students with Startup Ideas" competition took place from April 18 to 20 at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.
The festival is chaired by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
