In September, when the cool autumn winds gently blow through the mountain slopes, Thong Nguyen commune (Hoang Su Phi district, old Ha Giang province, now part of Tuyen Quang province) bustles into the golden season.
From above, the terraced fields look like steps leading to the sky, stretching to the horizon.
In the gentle autumn sunshine, the yellow color of ripe rice blends with the deep green of the forest, the stream meandering through the village and the cheerful laughter of the people, creating a wonderful picture, both majestic and poetic.
Thong Nguyen terraced fields are the crystallization of many generations of labor and ingenuity of the ethnic people here. With their diligent hands, people have transformed steep mountain slopes into unique “steps” for growing rice, both preventing soil erosion and creating a rare landscape.
In the rice harvest season, the whole region is covered with a golden coat, like a vivid picture woven by nature and humans.

This is also an attractive tourist highlight, recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the pride of ethnic minorities in Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province (old), now the communes of Hoang Su Phi, Thong Nguyen, Thanh Tin, Ban May, Nam Dich, Tan Tien, Ho Thau and Po Ly Ngai of Tuyen Quang province.
In recent years, Thong Nguyen is not only a destination for those who love nature but also a place where tourists come to immerse themselves in the unique cultural life of the highland people.
This year's golden season, Thong Nguyen is more exciting than ever with the 2025 Culture - Tourism Week taking place on September 13-14, with the theme "Brilliant golden season - A date with the high mountains."

This is a highlight activity, bringing together many unique programs to honor traditional cultural values, while promoting the tourism potential of this land.
The most impressive highlight is the art exchange night on the evening of September 13 at Thong Nguyen commune stadium, where visitors will enjoy dance and singing performances imbued with national cultural identity.
In particular, the unique fire dance exchange between the Red Dao and Pa Then people promises to bring emotional and unforgettable moments.
Along with that is the cultural-culinary space with mountain products, traditional dishes and exquisite handicrafts made by the local people. Here, visitors can not only enjoy the flavors of the highlands but also choose to buy souvenirs with strong cultural imprints.

Not stopping there, the program also has experiential activities at Nam Hong Community Tourism Village such as catching fish on terraced fields, making do paper, climbing mountains, making campfires, and dancing and singing together by the flickering fire.
In particular, from September 10-30, paragliding activities to see the golden season will bring visitors a new perspective, admiring the panoramic view of golden terraced fields stretching below their feet.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, a tourist from Hanoi, excitedly shared that she had been to many places with terraced fields, but Thong Nguyen brought a very different feeling, both wild and imbued with identity.
She looks forward to participating in the fire dance night and seeing the golden season from a paraglider, it will be an unforgettable experience in her life.
Not only attracting tourists, the Culture - Tourism Week is also an opportunity for ethnic people to express their pride in traditional culture.
Ms. Trieu Thi My, a resident of Nam Hong village, said that her whole family participated in preparing for the festival. She wrapped cakes, cooked sticky rice, and made handicrafts to serve tourists. The happiest thing was to see the local products being loved by visitors, who bought them as gifts. Thanks to tourism, the people have more income and their lives are less difficult.

The golden season of Thong Nguyen not only brings beautiful scenery but also opens up opportunities for sustainable tourism development for the local people. With careful preparation and warm affection from the people, Thong Nguyen Culture - Tourism Week 2025 promises to be an emotional journey, so that every visitor will bring back brilliant golden memories of the nature and people of the highlands.
