This was one of the points in the joint statement by US President Joe Biden, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba following their meeting on the sidelines of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Peru on November 15.
The statement read: “We strongly condemn North Korea and Russia’s violations of numerous UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Pyongyang’s decision to send troops to Russia to fight against Ukraine.” The U.S., South Korea, and Japan strongly condemned the decisions of the leaders of North Korea and Russia to dangerously expand Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
The statement also noted: “The increased military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including the transfer of ammunition and ballistic missiles, is particularly serious given Russia’s position as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.”
In addition, Washington, Seoul, and Tokyo pledged to continue assisting Ukraine in its defense against Russia's assertive actions.
The US, South Korea, and Japan also pledged to increase trilateral aid to Ukraine for reconstruction and recovery.
