In the process of innovation and integration, the application of international quality standards has become an inevitable trend in the development strategy of modern medical facilities. Prestigious standards, well-developed and globally recognized, not only help improve the effectiveness of treatment and care but also promote the construction of humane healthcare, modern management and sustainable development, promote the culture of patient safety, towards Zero Harm, taking patients as the center of all activities, considering hospitals as family, considering patients as relatives, bringing positive experiences to medical staff, patients and patients' families.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Hoang Bac, Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital shared: “To integrate with world healthcare, we need to build a set of standards that are suitable for the practice in Vietnam but still close to international standards”. He affirmed that with a clear legal framework, appropriate policies and guaranteed resources, not only large hospitals but also many other medical facilities can meet international standards. This will create a breakthrough in improving patient experience, enhancing the quality of care and ensuring maximum safety.
Presenting an overview of the current implementation of hospital quality criteria in Vietnam, Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management ( Ministry of Health ), said that the Ministry of Health will gradually build a new set of quality criteria, approaching international systems such as JCI, ACHS, AACI, but at the same time must be suitable for domestic practical conditions. A journey to transform medical culture, from reactive, manual care to a proactive, systematic, patient-centered model. This is a mandatory path if we want the medical sector to thrive in the era of integration".
In his speech, Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health, proposed specific orientations for the 2025-2030 period, such as perfecting the national quality assessment system, promoting the learning hospital model, forming centers of excellence, and innovating medical human resource training according to international thinking. “We are not only building safe hospitals. More importantly, we need to build a culture of safety, a quality ecosystem, and build people's strong trust in the health system.”
