According to Vice Admiral, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Viktor Sokolov, the opponent, deprived of the ability to operate at sea, focused its efforts on carrying out sabotage and terrorist attacks on fleet facilities and important infrastructure in Crimea.
He added that Russia has strengthened technical means to protect the fleet's main base and places where ships are anchored, equipped with optical-electronic and radio surveillance stations.

“The forces and troops of the Black Sea Fleet are solving the tasks of protecting bases, important military facilities and important infrastructure on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula from attacks by suicide drones in the air and at sea, enemy sabotage groups and eliminating dangerous mines.”
The Black Sea Fleet commander said that in order to detect early airborne attack weapons, including drones, the fleet, together with the Russian Aerospace Forces, has significantly increased the area of airspace control by radar. To promptly notify the forces, a unified information field has been formed, which includes aircraft and helicopters of the Naval Aviation Fleet. Additional means of performing combat missions for air defense forces, strengthening the air defense capabilities of base points, in addition to regular flotillas.
Kiev has been trying to attack Crimea on a regular basis. On May 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Sevastopol with 10 drones, but Russian air defenses repelled the attack. A day earlier, two Ukrainian Grom-2 operational-tactical missiles were shot down over the peninsula, with no casualties. In addition, Russian air defenses repelled drone attacks in Crimea in the first few days of May. The peninsula is currently under a yellow terror threat level indefinitely.
