According to information from the Payment Department of the State Bank of Vietnam, recently, high-tech crimes and financial fraud through electronic channels have been on the rise, with many sophisticated methods such as impersonating banks to send messages, distributing fake links or QR codes, impersonating police or court agencies, scamming people with "easy jobs with high salaries" from abroad, or using AI and deepfake technology to steal personal information and assets.
To protect citizens' rights, the Payment Department recommends that people absolutely do not provide confidential information including passwords, OTPs, card numbers, CVVs, and biometric data to anyone in any form; do not access links, QR codes, or applications from unknown sources; and regularly check and verify information through the bank's official channels.
At the same time, people should proactively change their passwords periodically, enable balance change alerts, and set transfer limits. If they detect any suspicious activity, customers should immediately contact the bank's hotline or the police.
In addition, people need to be wary of offers of super-profitable investments and overseas jobs to avoid falling into "cross-border scams".
The State Bank of Vietnam emphasized that the vigilance and cooperation of the people are key factors in preventing high-tech crimes, contributing to building a safe, transparent, and sustainable financial and banking environment.
The State Bank of Vietnam, in coordination with credit institutions, will continue to implement technical, legal, and communication solutions to combat high-tech crime.
Previously, updating on the results of collecting and cross-referencing biometric information with the National Population Database, the State Bank of Vietnam stated that as of August 15, 2025, the banking sector had cross-referenced biometric data for 123.9 million individual records and 1.3 million organizational records, achieving 100% of the number of accounts with digital transactions. This activity helped reduce the number of fraud cases by more than 59% and accounts related to fraud by 52% compared to before.
