On May 7, a representative of the Departmentof Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province said that it had issued a document announcing the admission scores for grade 10 high school in the 2025-2026 school year in the entire province.

For Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, the benchmark score ranges from 35.75 to 44 points (total score of 3 subjects: math, literature, English and specialized subject).

Other high schools enroll students by entrance exam, the school with the highest standard score (first choice) is Ha Huy Tap (West Nha Trang ward) with 16.25 points; followed by Pham Van Dong (Nha Trang ward) with 16 points; Hoang Van Thu (North Nha Trang ward) with 15.25 points.

The school with the lowest benchmark score is Nguyen Du High School ( Bac Ninh Hoa commune) with 5 points; followed by Ton Duc Thang (Nam Ninh Hoa commune) and To Van On (Tu Bong commune) with 6.5 points; Tran Quy Cap (Dong Ninh Hoa ward) with 6.75 points.

According to the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the admission score is calculated on a 10-point scale for each subject, without the coefficient as before. Thus, if there are no incentive points or priority points, candidates applying to Nguyen Du High School only need to achieve an average of more than 1.66 points per subject to be admitted.

Mr. Vo Hoan Hai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, said that the number of candidates taking the 10th grade exam this year decreased by more than 3,500 students compared to the previous school year. From here, many schools have not met their enrollment targets, forcing them to lower their admission scores.

Explaining the reason why the benchmark scores of some schools are only from 5 to 6.5 points, Mr. Hai said that these schools are often located in remote areas with many socio-economic difficulties, and students here have few opportunities to study.

“In these areas, students do not want to go to school and their academic performance is poor. If the education sector focuses on achievements and does not enroll students in these schools, students here will have to travel 20-30km to the central commune to study, which is very far and difficult,” Mr. Hai shared.

According to Mr. Hai, in these areas there are no continuing education centers, lowering the benchmark scores in schools in disadvantaged areas is to encourage students to go to school, creating opportunities to study. "This is a humane factor, not chasing after achievements," Mr. Hai emphasized.

According to the Director of the Department of Education and Training, despite low benchmark scores, many schools in disadvantaged areas still cannot meet their enrollment targets.
