Let’s throw away those thick stacks of outlines, dozens, hundreds of stressful exercises and instead enter the traditional Tet holiday with a relaxed and happy mindset. This is the policy of many schools in Ho Chi Minh City to help students truly enjoy and relax during Tet holiday.
ENJOY THE TET ATMOSPHERE
For primary school students, Ms. Lam Hong Lam Thuy, Head of the Primary Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that students study 2 sessions/day, so all knowledge and exercises are solved in class. Time at home is for students to review and prepare new lessons, spend time communicating, sharing and taking care of relatives... During the Tet holiday, Ms. Thuy said that schools do not assign homework so that students can relax and enjoy the joyful atmosphere of Tet, have fun with their families in the true sense. Through spring activities, communication, sharing and traveling, going back to their hometowns, visiting and wishing relatives a happy new year... students can learn and experience real life, gain more life materials, skills and form personality, and cultivate qualities.

At a higher level of education, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thuy, Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), shared: "Every year, not only students but also teachers look forward to the Lunar New Year holidays to return home and reunite with their families. The whole year is spent studying and working, so why don't we spend 11 days to have a complete vacation with our loved ones? After that, both teachers and students enter a new year with excitement, joy, and dedication."
Nearly 3,000 students of Tay Thanh High School (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) were excited and happy that this year's Tet holiday they did not have to worry about homework.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Dat, Principal of Tay Thanh High School, said that the school's view is that the Tet holiday must be a time for students to reunite with their families. Therefore, teachers not assigning homework will create a comfortable and happy atmosphere for students so that they can experience a complete, loving and warm Tet holiday with their families. Family affection will be the luggage and material to nurture students to know how to live with love, responsibility and ambition...
According to Mr. Dat, in previous years, the school always instructed teachers not to assign homework during Tet to avoid creating pressure on students, especially 12th graders. However, some teachers and parents, out of love and concern, worried that their children would neglect their studies during the long Tet holiday and their knowledge would not be guaranteed, especially for final year students who were preparing for important exams, so they still assigned some homework during this time. He said that although this came from love and concern, it still made the students not fully happy during Tet holiday because of worrying about their studies.
That is why this year, the principal said that as soon as the Tet holiday schedule was announced, the school board requested teachers to definitely not assign homework, projects, or study tasks for students to do during this time. Any unfinished homework that can be done before Tet can be completed, and the rest can be put aside until after Tet. The only thing teachers need to tell students is to ensure safe and healthy entertainment. Mr. Dat said that the school also called for the consensus of parents: "Let the students enjoy and experience the true Tet holiday of reunion, gathering with family, grandparents, parents with love, family traditions... This is also the way the school aims to build a happy school," he shared.

DO NOT PERFORM REGULAR TESTS AFTER TET
With the viewpoint of "A Tet holiday without homework", the Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School said that he has deployed to all teachers of the school the regulation of not assigning homework in any form to students. Besides, in the first week of returning to school after Tet, teachers also do not conduct regular tests, which will make students feel tired and pressured.
The principal of Tay Thanh High School also requested that in the first week of returning to school, teachers do not test or review old lessons with students.
Teacher Pham Le Thanh, Nguyen Hien High School (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City), shared that Tet is the time and opportunity for students to stay at home, which also helps parents have time to listen to their children share to help their teachers and schools help their children progress and develop their abilities and qualities. Let students comfortably celebrate Tet, through spring activities, communication, sharing and traveling , going back to their hometowns... to visit and wish their relatives a happy new year... Through that, students can experience reality, gain more life materials, and build skills.
If possible, Mr. Thanh said that teachers of all subjects should update all lectures and study instructions on the school's online teaching system, so that students can proactively study on their own at a suitable time or use this time to start writing at the beginning of spring, creating motivation and setting study goals for the new year.

Have time to help parents
Duong Nguyen Khoi Nhi, grade 10, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (District 1), shared: "Tet is an occasion for us to rest, have fun, and reunite with our families. Understanding the psychology of students, teachers did not assign homework so that we could relax, no longer in the mood to have fun during Tet but still worry about having to complete our homework. Instead of doing homework, now we can help our parents clean the house, have time to go back to our hometown to visit grandparents and relatives, experience traditional Tet activities or read unfinished books. Parents should not worry about us forgetting knowledge if teachers do not assign Tet homework. The break is not too long, so cases of forgetting knowledge are very rare. In addition, before going back to school, we are also conscious of preparing our lessons to enter the new year smoothly and have good luck."
Nguyen Cao Minh Phuong, a 9th grade student at Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1), also excitedly said that he has started the Tet holiday, comfortably without having to worry about deadlines for homework. "Nowadays, through class groups, before the end of the holiday, teachers often remind students to review this lesson or that lesson so they don't forget when they return to school. That's why we are more proactive when we return to school after the holiday," Phuong said.
