On the morning of February 21st (the 12th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon), Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, held its traditional boat racing festival on the Diem Ho River.
According to observations by reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper, from early morning, a large number of locals and tourists gathered on both banks of the Diem Ho River to watch the traditional boat racing festival.

According to the organizing committee of the traditional boat racing festival in Diem Dien town, this year's festival features 120 athletes from 8 boats representing residential areas in Diem Dien town and Thai Thuong commune.
Each swimming team has 15 rowers, one person steering, and one person calling out the rhythm; all the rowers are healthy and have good technique.
Thousands of people gathered to cheer on the boat race festival.
According to the competition rules, the teams will race on the Diem Ho River, near the Diem Dien estuary, in 3.5 laps, covering a total distance of over 4km.
At exactly 9:05 AM, following the organizers' signal, the swimming teams set off, the swimmers putting all their strength into heading towards the open sea.

The festival was lively and vibrant, filled with cheers and applause from the local people and tourists from all over.
At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded first prize to the swimming team from residential area No. 4, second prize to the swimming team from Mai Diem residential area, and third prize to the swimming team from Thai Thuong commune. The remaining swimming teams received consolation prizes.

According to the organizers, the traditional boat racing festival on the Diem Ho River is a beautiful cultural feature of the people of the coastal region, commemorating the great contributions of wise men and generations of ancestors who fought against foreign invaders and conquered the seas.

This also marks the start of the year for all officials, people, and economic sectors, especially the two industries of marine exploitation and transportation in Thai Thuy district, with the hope for a year of favorable weather, good fortune for fishermen at sea, and successful fishing and aquaculture.
