Thousands of people flock to the traditional swimming festival in Diem Dien town

On the morning of February 21 (January 12, the year of the Dragon), Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province held a traditional swimming festival on the Diem Ho river.

According to Giao Thong Newspaper, from early morning, many people and tourists were present on both sides of Diem Ho River waiting to watch the traditional swimming festival.

The Organizing Committee of the Traditional Swimming Festival of Diem Dien town said that this year's festival will have 120 athletes from 8 swimming groups of Diem Dien town and Thai Thuong commune.

On each rowing mat there are 15 rowers, one person steering and one person calling the rhythm, all rowers are healthy and have good technique.

Thousands of people were present to cheer on the swimming festival.

According to the competition rules, the racing teams compete on the Diem Ho River, the section adjacent to the Diem Dien estuary, in 3.5 laps with a total length of over 4km.

At exactly 9:05, after the command of the organizing committee, the swimmers started, the swimmers focused their efforts towards the open sea.

The festival took place in a lively and jubilant atmosphere with the cheers and encouragement of a large number of people and tourists from all over.

At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded first prize to the swimming team of residential group No. 4, second prize to the swimming team of Mai Diem residential group, and third prize to the swimming team of Thai Thuong commune. The remaining swimming teams received consolation prizes.

The organizers said that the traditional swimming festival on the Diem Ho River is a cultural beauty of the coastal people, commemorating the great contributions of the sages and generations of ancestors who fought against foreign invaders and conquered the sea.

Thai Binh Provincial Border Guard forces are on duty to rescue athletes swimming on Diem Ho River.

This is also the first launching ceremony of the year for all cadres, people, economic sectors, especially the two sectors of exploitation and maritime transport of Thai Thuy district, with the wish for a year of favorable weather, good luck for fishermen at sea, and successful aquaculture and fishing.
