(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Possessing many historical, cultural, and archaeological values, Tien Hoa village (Ha Linh commune, Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province) is considered one of the oldest villages in Thanh Hoa.
Tien Hoa village, Ha Linh commune, Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province, was formerly known by its colloquial names Ke Khao, Khao Ru, and Tien Cao. Around the mid-17th century, the village was divided into two hamlets. Tien Hoa is considered a "blessed land where birds perch," and since ancient times, many families have come here to clear land and establish settlements. Currently, there are over 35 families living together in Tien Hoa. A portion of the population is concentrated around the foot of Ma Lim mountain to avoid flooding during the rainy season, hence it is called Tien Hoa Son hamlet (or Khao Ru); the rest remain in Tien Hoa Bai hamlet (also known as Khao Dong). From here, Tien Hoa became a village with two hamlets (Photo: Xuan Luc).
The inhabitants of Tien Hoa village have traditionally used mountains and hills as a foundation for their settlements, moving from lower to higher elevations with a tiered, alleyway-style residential structure. These alleyways are not only historical relics but also cultural products of the long development process in the ancient village of Tien Hoa, with 12 named alleyways: Ma, Cong, Thuong, Cua, Cut, Hat, Trung, Dinh, Chua, Troi, Nghe, and Gieng Dao alley. The unique architecture of these alleyways in the ancient village of Tien Hoa is created by sturdy stone steps (Photo: Xuan Luc - Quach Tuan). Along with the village lanes, the village well with its clear, cool water is one of the special cultural features that the people of Tien Hoa highly value, preserve, and maintain (Photo: Quach Tuan).
The walls, built with fired bricks and stone, have been covered in moss over time, and the ancient village communal house, hundreds of years old... are historical relics and distinctive cultural features of the ancient village of Tien Hoa today (Photo: Quach Tuan).
In the high ground of Boc field, Tien Hoa village, during the 2013 excavation, scientists discovered the Con Co Ngua archaeological site belonging to the Da But Culture, with traces of prehistoric humans migrating from the mountains to the plains. Notably, archaeologists discovered 146 prehistoric human remains, including an ancient burial cluster containing three individuals buried together at the same time in a seated, knee-bent position. Two of the remains were adults (one male, one female, approximately 50-60 years old) and one child (a few months old), dating back approximately 5,000-6,000 years. Currently, the ancient burial cluster and thousands of stone tools are preserved at the Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum. At Con Co Ngua, scientists have found a large number of axes, chisels, and knives crafted from crescent-shaped slate, as well as pestles, grinding stones, and grinding stones carved by prehistoric people. In addition, many mollusk shells such as clam and oyster shells were also found. (Photo: Quach Tuan). Mr. Vu Thanh Tung, a cultural official of Ha Linh commune, said: "In the original hamlet of Tien Hoa village, there are about 60-70 households that still preserve traditional cultural features. Around Tet (Lunar New Year), the People's Committee of Ha Linh commune regularly cooperates with photography clubs to recreate scenes of Tet in the past and ancient houses in Tien Hoa village, aiming to help people fully and completely visualize the traditional Tet of the Vietnamese people and preserve the traditional culture of the nation…" (Photo: People's Committee of Ha Linh commune).
