With years of experience in implementing various livestock farming models such as quail, chicken, pig, and snake farming, the initial results of implementing the New Zealand rabbit farming model in a linked chain have been promising. The model we want to mention is that of Mr. Nguyen Kim Trong's household in Lac Hung 2 residential area, Lac Thanh town, Tanh Linh district.
While feeding the beautiful white rabbits a type of wild grass growing along the roadside that is their favorite and nutritious food, Mr. Trong smiled and said: "My hometown is in Quang Nam . In 1979, answering the sacred call of the Fatherland, I enthusiastically enlisted and fought on the Cambodian battlefield. During those years of fierce fighting there, I excellently completed my nhiệm vụ and was discharged in 1982; I got married in 1985; In 1990, my family decided to settle in Lac Hung 2 neighborhood, Lac Thanh town. With nothing but our bare hands and two young children, life at that time was very difficult, full of hardships. However, with the willpower and determination of a soldier of Uncle Ho, not giving up in the face of difficulties and hardships, my wife and I thought, discussed, and divided tasks to overcome the difficulties and hardships." Mr. Trong has successively implemented various livestock farming models such as pig farming, chicken farming, quail farming, and even snake farming to develop his economy. Thanks to these models, his family's economy has gradually stabilized. In early 2022, with a revolving fund of 21 million VND from the Veterans Association of Lac Hung neighborhood, Lac Tanh town, Mr. Trong implemented a rabbit farming model based on a linked chain. Initially, he raised 10 pairs of New Zealand breed rabbits. He continued to raise the offspring of the breeding rabbits. Each month, the mother rabbits gave birth to 6 baby rabbits. Thanks to his experience in livestock farming, he did not encounter any difficulties when implementing the linked chain model. After nearly two years, he has sold 300 commercial rabbits, each weighing 2kg, at a price of 70,000 VND/kg. In addition, he also sold 100 breeding rabbits to other people and provided guidance on farming techniques. Currently, the farm houses 40 breeding rabbits, 160 commercial rabbits, and many young breeding rabbits.
Mr. Kim Trong shared: New Zealand rabbits have many advantages such as high growth and development, high reproduction rate, high productivity, delicious meat, and a maximum weight of up to 6 kg per rabbit. However, because it's a supply chain operation, the cooperative comes to buy the rabbits when they reach 2 kg. In addition, to help the rabbits grow and develop optimally, they must be vaccinated regularly, and disinfectants, lime powder, and cages must be cleaned weekly to limit disease outbreaks.
With years of experience in raising various animal species, Mr. Trong has effectively utilized animal waste products in a closed-loop system. Rabbit manure is used to raise earthworms and fertilize crops. Earthworms are used to feed chickens, fish, and hybrid wild pigs. Thanks to this, although the family's farming area is small, environmental hygiene is ensured. From this integrated, closed-loop farming model, Mr. Kim Trong's family earns approximately 100 million VND per year. This model has also contributed to the family's stable economic situation . Both of his children have stable jobs; his eldest daughter works outside the province, and his son is a high school teacher in the district.
With the willpower and determination of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army, Mr. Kim Trong has risen from hardship to achieve a stable life. At the same time, he actively participates in and makes many contributions to the Veterans' Association in his neighborhood. Mr. Trong's family is one of the exemplary families in Lac Hung 2 neighborhood, Lac Tanh town.
