People come to "legal festival" to receive legal advice and fraud warnings

Not only an occasion to respond to Vietnam Law Day, legal consultation sessions are becoming a real "festival" for the people. There, every question, every daily situation is listened to, answered and warnings about fraud, civil disputes or legal rights are communicated clearly and easily understood.

On the morning of November 5, at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Tan Dong Hiep Ward, many people were present early to attend the Conference on Communication and Legal Advice organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Justice in coordination with the State Legal Aid Center No. 2 and the People's Committee of Tan Dong Hiep Ward, in response to Vietnam Law Day (November 9).

Bringing the law closer to the people

The hall area was filled with laughter and greetings. The neighborhood chief happily showed off to the ward police officers the "SOS for security and order" model that the neighborhood had just effectively implemented. The atmosphere was friendly and intimate, like a familiar neighborhood meeting, except that today, people came to listen to stories about... the law.

The legal consultation and discussion section became lively when many people boldly raised questions. A middle-aged woman asked about the division of assets when living together as husband and wife but not yet registered their marriage. Another man was concerned about making a will to avoid future disputes. Someone asked about debt, what level of debt could be sued in court, or what documents people with revolutionary contributions needed to prepare to enjoy policies.

These questions seem trivial, but they are very real “stuck” in everyday legal life. Each problem is listened to and guided meticulously by the staff of the State Legal Aid Center No. 2, and even contacted directly to support people on the spot.

Comrade Lai Viet Van, Head of Tan Phu 1 Ward, said that propaganda sessions like this need to be organized more frequently, because laws change quickly, while grassroots officials and people need to be updated promptly. “This is an opportunity for us, those working at the grassroots level, to better understand the new policies and avoid mistakes when guiding people. The more we understand the law, the more people we can help,” he said.

Next to that, Le Nguyen Quynh Anh, a member of the Tan Dong Hiep ward youth union, quickly distributed handbooks and guided people to fill out legal aid request forms. The young union member shared: “By participating in the propaganda session, I learned many good things. Later, when participating in union activities or working in the neighborhood, I can pass on to other young people how to understand and live in accordance with the law.”

Understand the law to live rightly, live beautifully, live with love

Comrade Pham Van Ngo, Vice Chairman of Tan Dong Hiep Ward People's Committee, said that the propaganda, communication and legal consultancy activities in response to the Law Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (November 9) are practical activities with profound political and legal significance, contributing to raising awareness and respect for the law among local officials and people.

According to him, this year's conference focuses on disseminating new policies and legal regulations, and providing free legal advice to people, especially vulnerable groups, to help everyone have the opportunity to access information and receive support when necessary.

Comrade Huynh Huu Tot, Head of the Department of Propaganda and Legal Education, Department of Justice, said that organizing activities in response to this day not only raises legal awareness for officials, party members and people, but also contributes to spreading the image of a Vietnam that respects, protects and ensures full implementation of human rights and civil rights in the eyes of international friends.

2025 is a year of special significance, the first year that the locality implements state administrative management according to the 2-level local government model. This is a time that opens up many opportunities, but also poses many challenges, requiring the entire political system to innovate its operating methods, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management, and build an administrative system that serves and is friendly to people and businesses.

In that context, the work of propaganda, dissemination and legal education plays an increasingly crucial role. According to him, helping each citizen, cadre and party member clearly understand their rights and obligations, and live and work according to the Constitution and the law is the foundation for building a civilized community, safe and friendly neighborhoods.

On the same morning, Tan Khanh Ward People's Committee also organized a legal propaganda session attracting about 100 participants, including Neighborhood Front officials, grassroots mediators and local residents.

Coming from Cay Cham neighborhood, Mr. Vuong Minh Hung, a member of the Neighborhood Front Working Committee, arrived early and attentively took notes of each content. He shared: “I usually learn about the law through newspapers and radio, but listening to direct propaganda like this is easier to understand and more familiar. Especially the new points of the Land Law, very useful to apply in work and daily life.”
